Marketwired Community Builders Prepare Holiday Craft Kits at SickKids Hospital

During the holidays, all kids deserve to experience the magic of the season — but without health, nothing else matters. That’s why Marketwired planned a Community Builders event to donate time to The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). With a mission to put together craft kits for kids spending time in hospital waiting rooms, on December 1 a few staff members in our Toronto office headed to the hospital with several big bags of craft supplies.

SickKids Hospital, a health-care community dedicated to improving the health of children, is focused on providing the best in family-centred, compassionate care. For this reason, the Marketwired team could not have been happier to partner with them for our Community Builders program.

“In the spirit of Christmas, Marketwired really wanted to impact kids’ lives who may not be able to celebrate this holiday season the way most kids should,” says Tracy Allardyce, Marketwired Account Executive and planner of this event. “Marketwired assembled a team of 13 people ranging from different departments — Sales, Client Support, Editorial and HR — to put craft kits together for kids who would be at the hospital over the holidays. Our amazing team was able to assemble 250 kits in about an hour and a half. I think I speak for everyone when I say we took a lot of pride with this particular project and are honoured to be able to make a difference in patients’ lives.”


Marketwired Community Builders is a corporate-wide initiative that allows employees one day off each quarter to give back to their local community. Previous events have included street hockey tournaments for food banks, building bikes for a women’s shelter, and more. These events foster a true “community” sense of accomplishment in our company.
