Starbucks Wins 2014 IR Magazine Award for Use of Social Media

Starbucks Wins 2014 IR Magazine Award for Use of Social Media

Starbucks patrons are not the only ones checking Facebook and Twitter as they sip their Frappuccinos. The company itself has set itself apart from the pack with its use of social media for communicating with investors.

In its 2014 IR awards for the U.S., IR Magazine singled out Starbucks for the “best use of social media.” The other four finalists in this category included Facebook, Google, Intel, and Quanta Services.

IR Magazine determined its 2014 award winners through an independent survey of over 800 analysts and investors based throughout the U.S. Each was asked to select the company that he or she thinks provides the best IR service in each of the awards categories.

Starbucks broadcasts its annual shareholder meeting live over the Internet. In addition, the popular purveyor of coffee drinks webcasts all quarterly earnings calls.

Upon accepting its award at the New York-based ceremony on March 28, Starbucks pointed out that its communications team is responsible for managing the IR social media channels.
