It’s been hard lately to go through any media, especially online, without running into the world’s favourite man who was born to have salon-quality hair and read the news, Ron Burgundy.

Mr Burgundy has been making quite a splash with his return to the mainstream and we were curious just how popular he actually was. To find out, we compared Ron Burgundy to a diverse set of today’s other top news broadcasters (not old, old wooden ships used during the Civil War era) over the past six months to see who was being mentioned the most through social media and what the sentiment around them was.

As it turns out, Ron Burgundy actually is the most popular newscaster currently, beating out the likes of Anderson Cooper, Matt Lauer and Katie Couric among others.

We heard that to celebrate his victory, there is going to be a pants party (whatever that means).

UPDATE: Apparently Anderson Cooper wasn’t too pleased about coming in 2nd to Ron Burgundy and he took some time to vent about it on Anderson Cooper 360 last night.
