Marketwired Launches Community Giving Program
Working at Marketwired means being involved with cutting-edge technology and providing communication solutions to organizations around the globe. Now it also means getting out in local communities and making a difference. That’s because Marketwired just launched a community giving program that gives employees the opportunity to choose the charity of their choice and serve as a catalyst for change in their communities.
Called Community Builders, the program began at Marketwired’s corporate headquarters in Toronto and is expanding from there to all other Marketwired facilities. Every full-time employee receives one day of volunteer leave a quarter to take part in the program. This not only fosters team building, but inspires others to give back.
“When you are able to support a charitable organization, it’s clear that the organization benefits, but the individual does as well, said Jim Delaney, Marketwired’s president and CEO. “Each quarter, we encourage our team to give the gift of time to a local school, non-profit organization, community partnership or other philanthropic cause. This is only one small step toward a bigger goal that we have to reach out to our communities.”
Recently, Marketwired team members took part in the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation’s “CIBC Run for the Cure” event. The event was an opportunity for employees to show their support by giving back to a very important cause.
“The “Run for the Cure” event was a prime example of how important the community is to us,” added Delaney. “By encouraging our employees to give their time, we can inspire others in our community to give back, as well.”
