A Transformed PR/IR Blog

2013 has seen plenty of changes in our industry. For all, change is an opportunity to learn, grow and, ultimately, be better than we are already. At Marketwired, we embrace this change.

In April, we rebranded from Marketwire toMarketwired, powered by Sysomos. To continue the transformation, Marketwired has relaunched its website and blog. In celebrating the new blog, we asked a handful of public relations influencers to share their transforming moment this year.

Melissa Agnes, president, Melissa Agnes Crisis Management

“I’ve had many transformations in my life, both personally and professionally. But the one that I’d like to share with you here today is the one that I see all the time in my line of work. I specialize in crisis management and planning for this digital age, and with the frequency that social media, trends, features and even crisis plans are (and need to be) updated these days I’ve come to know and live by the following: In this world of ever changing trends, platforms and expectations, transformation is key. By learning to adapt, be flexible and equip yourself with the knowledge to continue to strive and move forward, the possibilities become endless.”

Brad Phillips, president, Phillips Media Relations; author, The Mr. Media Training Blog and “The Media Training Bible.”

“As a business owner, I’ve always struggled with balancing my professional and personal life. That became even more pronounced after having my first child earlier this year. My ‘aha’ moment came when one of my blog’s readers shared this quote with me: “Everything you say ‘yes’ to is a ‘no’ to something else.” In my case, that means that a ‘yes’ to extended business travel is a ‘no’ to spending time with my family. I’ve learned how to say no more often—something I’ve always struggled with—and although my transformation is still a work in progress, the payoffs to my overall well-being have already been tremendous.”

What was your transformative moment? Let us know in the comments.
