Ahoy, Mateys! It’s International Talk Like a Pirate Day



Today is International Talk Like a Pirate Day! So it’s not a legitimate holiday (you can’t take days off) but it is recognized around the world by people talking like an old-time pirate.

Of course we had to see what the world is saying about International Talk Like a Pirate Day. Arrgh! 

When we looked at September 19th, we found 29,199 total social media mentions and the day has just started in North America.

 

As you can see, most of the chat is happening on Twitter, which is dominating the social space with 98 per cent of the activity.

The United States is enjoying the day and so is the UK. Canada isn’t feeling very piratical though there is a Pirate Party of Canada. Historical fact: the British had pirates but if they got letters of marque, they became privateers. Or in other words, they had the government’s permission to plunder enemy ships.
