The Toronto International Film Festival

The Toronto International Film Festival begins in two days. Soon the stars of the latest movies and documentaries will be here to talk about their film while the businesspeople move behind the scenes looking to secure distribution rights.

Buzz is building but does buzz lead to box office? Let’s see.

Here’s the Buzz Graph and Word Cloud for TIFF 2011.

There’s mention of Dancy, which is Hugh Dancy. He was in “Hysteria” last year with Maggie Gyllenhaal and the movie was one of the buzzier movies of 2011. Unfortunately, it didn’t do that well in the box office.

The buzziest celebs of TIFF 2011 were Ryan “Hey Girl” Gosling and George Clooney.

So who’s buzzing for TIFF 2012?

No one’s standing out yet. There’s a Cameron in the Word Cloud but that’s Cameron Bailey, head of the film festival. You can barely see Jared Leto, so we’ll keep an eye on him to see how he and his work does at the festival. What’s doing well is Midnight Madness – always a good time.

To keep track of TIFF, follow the #TIFF12 hashtag on Twitter [3].
