Posted By Marketwired On August 28, 2012 @ 4:11 pm In IR/PR | No Comments

Hurricane Isaac is bearing down on Louisiana and has made landfall according to the US National Hurricane Center [1]. It’s a category one hurricane with winds of at least 75 mph (80 mph according to Google [2]).

We took a look at what was being said on social media. The Buzz Graph breaks it down very quickly.

Storm, Tampa, Isaac and Republican are the most commonly-used words. The Republican convention is happening in Florida and the news has reported that they’re getting a lot of rain thanks to the outer bands.

Did you notice the dotted line on the top left of the graph? It’s Katrina. Isaac is hitting Louisiana on the seventh anniversary [4] of Hurricane Katrina’s destructive travels along the southern US coastline.

The  majority of the conversation is taking place on twitter with 47,427 tweets with the majority coming from the  United States and split almost evenly across men and women:
