Looking back and moving ahead: Marketwire celebrates a monumental year

As 2010 draws to a close and we look to the promise of 2011, I’d like to reflect on “the year that was” to share some highlights of where we’ve been, and insights into where we are headed.

The global economy that was so precarious just one year ago seems to have steadied itself, bringing with it a degree of calm across most financial markets and greater confidence among business executives in many of the world’s economies. While there are certainly some lingering dark clouds that refuse to dissipate,  I truly feel the overriding sentiment in most markets is of a growing sense of confidence, albeit a measured and cautious one. 

At Marketwire, we have been experiencing firsthand all that is Web 2.0 for several years now, and this past year we witnessed as never before the transformation of much of the world’s communication, culture and technology.  2010 was indeed the year of “disruption,” “mobility” and “agility.”  It was also the year of The Social Network, Twitter, and WikiLeaks, and if you look beyond the headlines that surrounded these stories, you’ll see common themes:  real-time conversation, engagement, and the power and influence of the social arena.

2010 was a monumental year for us.  Our acquisition of Sysomos and the addition of its people and products to the Marketwire family signaled a major leap forward for our Company, both in the solutions we deliver to our clients, and in how we define the communication cycle for years to come.  Our Company invests in technology at a record pace to develop communication solutions that go far beyond the expected.  We continue to invest in our people and in innovative tools to help our clients do their jobs faster, smarter and more effectively.
